Our intern Daniel recaps SXSW in this Fun Friday blog post.

To the regulars it’s known as SXSW, but to outsiders it’s known as South by Southwest, a unique set of music, interactive and film festivals that happens every spring. The festival takes place in Austin, Texas. SXSW started back in 1987, and has grown every year since. This will be no different starting today, March 8 when SXSW will be in full throttle again.

Thousands of fans, artist and tech specialist will be at the event.  This 10 day event is a calibration of creativity, genius and fun all in one. During the event March 10, SXSW will host the MashBash a late night affair that will take place at the Speakeasy from 9pm to 2 am. The MashBash will bring the sounds of DJ Mick Boogie spinning hits from the 80s’, electro, disco, and a variety of rock music. The event will open its doors to all people ages 21+.

Another event that will SXSW will be hosting is an interactive concert event on March 14, which will include rap artist The Rapper, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, and Doug E. Fresh. But this concert isn’t your normal concert event it will include a 62-foot vending machine LCD screen sponsored by Doritos that will, stream live tweets as well as photos. The interactive LCD screen will be powered by live tweets using #BoldStage. The screen will also show photos when pyros, lasers, smoke and beach balls are being used throughout the show. It will be a truly amazing interactive experience for all the music fans and creative tweeters.  Looking forward to the entire SXSW event is quit the understatement, people look forward this the entire year for all the different events offered to its fans.
